Earlier this week, Bob Arum denied a fight between Pacquaio and Crawford because he wanted the veteran to travel overseas for a comeback fight. Thanks to Pacquaio who agreed to fight against Australian welterweight Jeff Horn April 23rd 2017 that has created a commotion among fans.
The venue for the much-anticipated bout between the Philippines Senator and Jeff Horn is yet to be confirmed however, it is expected to be held at the hottest Suncorp Stadium in Australia.
Duco Events, the promoter said that the venue for the fight involving Filipino boxer Pacquiao could be held in one of the major cities of Australia, possibly in 28-year-old Horn’s hometown in Brisbane, or the Middle East or even in United States.
Duco director Dean Lonergan met with Top Rank Chief Bob Arum this week to organize the fight stated –
“The preference for all parties is for the fight to be held in Australia, and we are working towards this outcome,”
Arum prefers the fight to happen at an outdoor stadium, and it would be highlighted in 159 different countries, including the America, where it would air in a prime-time Saturday night slot on free-to-air TV.
He said –
“I would expect 3 to 4,000 Filipinos to fly from the Philippines for this fight down under,”
“It will be the biggest fight in Australian history but, until the money is secured, we have to keep our options open, including looking at the Middle East and USA.”
Pacquiao last fought in November that bagged him a unanimous decision win against Jessie Vargas to a WBO Welterweight belt title.
The 5-foo-9 Horn is currently at No.2 in the World Boxing Organization (WBO)’s welterweight division.
