Pogoy drills in career-high 22 as TNT takes 2-1 lead over SMB

 

In the eye-interesting tight game TNT somehow proved that the Beermen were beatable as it leaked out 98-92 victory on the Sunday night in the PBA Philippine Cup Final Four series at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

It was a career game for rookie Roger Pogoy as he caught fire and helped TNT with mind-blowing 22 career-high score on 6-of-11 shooting from threes that went along with 7 rebounds as TNT grabbed a 2-1 lead in their best-of-seven series.

After handing over the first loss to San Miguel, TNT coach Nash Racela counterpart Leo Austria on the ropes and was able to play the mind game. He first, thanked the referees for pointing out the fouls on Beermen cornerstone June Mar Fajardo.

Then Racela was happy about Austria who played the zone defense, which ultimately broke their losing steaks and managed to win the last two games in the season.

Racela said –

I am just thankful that, finally, the referees have called the fouls on June Mar,”

“Last game, he played 40 minutes and was called for just [one] foul,” he said.

“They (referees) are calling it now and because of that, we had a great chance [of winning Game 3].”

June Mar Fajardo who played for over 30 minutes picked up a 5th foul when just 6 remaining. The 6-foot-10 finished with 16 points and nine rebounds along with a contribution of a free throw in 4th quarter.

Apart from Pogoy there was Ranidel de Ocampo that poured 24 points along with game-sealing free throws with 8.1 remaining. He had 9 boards and 3 assists.

While, Jayson Castro notched 11 points, 12 assists and 4 rebounds and Kelly Williams added 11 markers and 3 boards.
