Perez scores 22 to lead Lyceum overpowers JRU

CJ Perez scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Lyceum Pirates in a 96-75 win against Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers on Tuesday.

Perez played an all-around game with domination at both ends of the floor. Perez also had four assists and two steals to show forth his prowess in the game.

“I’m really happy to play for LPU and I’m glad to play for NCAA again. I’m so excited,” he said in Filipino

While Perez played positively to make an impact to the team for the victory, he committed seven turnovers. This is an area of the game that he should be looking at in the coming games.

“I’m the same CJ Perez, but the team is what helps us win. It’s our camaraderie, we’re all close and we’re all focused, which bonds the team and makes us work, especially on the defensive end,” he said.

Lyceum offensive juggernaut outscored JRU, 53-38, in the second half to totally distance the game.

In another game, Mapua defeated Letran, 78-75, in which Andoy Estrella drilled in a triple with 5.2 seconds left that became the difference of the game. Estrella scored seven of his 18 points in the final two minutes. He also added seven assists and seven steals.
