Abueva plays hot as Alaska dominates Kings for 3rd straight win


To secure their 3rd straight win, Alaska Ace dropped Barangay Ginbra Gin Kings 101-86 in the highly-anticipated 2017 PBA Philippine Cup on Sunday, 18th December at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Alaska Aces are shaping up as surprise package for this year’s PBA after starting at 2-0 conference that saw them dominating GlobalPort, Meralco and pushed Gin Kings behind. A bare standing of 6-foot-2, Abueva once again played big for the team who scored 12 points for the cheering fans, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.

The win improved Aces to a joint third place along with Blackwater, Rain or Shine and TNT KaTropa at 3-2.

Being good at systematic on defense side and remaining hot on shooting, it wasn’t difficult for Aces to send Ginbra for a third loss after two wins. RJ Jazul massively notched 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting from deep.

Alex Compton, Couch of Alaska Aces in a statement said

“I’m actually a little surprised with the result,”

“But I really thought there were large stretches that our guys had tremendous defensive activity. We did a good job in the half court, scrambling and taking away their shots,”.

Vic Manuel Chris Banchero owned 10 points each for Aces, who led by as much as 30 points in the initial fourth quarter, perked their record to 3-2.

Rookie Kevin Ferrer top scored for Ginebra of 19 points off the bench, on 5-of-11 3-points shooting. Japeth Aguilar added 12 points without a single rebound, Joe Devance contributed 12 markers with 6 boards

Aces will clash TNT KaTropa on Friday over at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
