Blackwater foils Globalport, captures solo second

Blackwater Elite secured their solo second straight game for the second time for the PBA season, pushing behind Globalport 99-91 in the PBA Philippine Cup at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City Wednesday night.

Mac Belo and Art Dela Cruz paced the Elite in second half to lift the Blackwater past Batang Pier. Mac Belo once again led the way with notching 20 points making up for his 4-of-12 field hit with a ideal 11-of-11 shooting from the stripe. However, this time Elite were lucky enough to drive significant contribution from bench down the stretch, particularly from Roi Sumang and Ael Banal.

The Filipino star Ronjay Buenafe played remarkable in their decisive 3rd quarter surge and entire team of Elite played hard to reach the victory that finished San Miguel Beer (4-1)

Leo Isaac, the Blackwater head coach said –

“We wanted this victory. We wanted to give ourselves a chance to experience being number two in the standings and we want to have a good Christmas this year,”

“We want to win over Global and prep ourselves for another win over Mahindra on Sunday.”

Nard Pinto had 15 points and 6 assists while Roi Sumang grabbed 9 counting the game-clinching 3-pointer, 97-89 with just 52.2 seconds remaining. Terrence Romeo did his part by adding triple-double, 22 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assist, however could only manage 6-of-21 shots from the field.

Stanley Pringle’s ejection from the game after committing a second flagrant foul, came as a biggest blow on Globalport with just 2.21 remaining in the third quarter.
