Rain or Shine sends NLEX to 5th consecutive loss

Rain or Shine showed NLEX and its former coach Yeng Guiao how offense should be performed as Elasto Painters sends the Road Warrior to their 5th Consecutive loss with a 107-97 victory in the PBA Philippine Cup 2017 on Friday night at the Philsports Arena.

Jericho Cruz acted late and scored last 6 points after Jewel Ponferrada and Jeff Chan spotted the late surge as they earned a three-way tie for the second place along with Blackwater and TNT Katropa.

Cruz who is a PBA draft since 2014 made sure to perform without any flaw, firing 8 of his 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to secure the win. Elasta Painters were at 12-points deficit in the third period, but bucked up in the fourth quarter to take the lead.

Road Warrior started their first season with a win under the guidance of Guiao, but Elasto Painters pushed them to 5th straight loss with this encounter.

Caloy Gracia coach of Elasto Painters said –

“I told the guys not to focus on coach Yeng but focus more on winning,”

“We woke them up and told them, ‘You’re playing not like old Rain or Shine team, and you’re not even there to win. If we lose, we’re not having a break, so maybe that’s the reason, but I think it was Jireh (Ibanes) with his defense that changed the game and oriented our offense. When he came in, the intensity of our game truly changed.”

Jewel Ponferrada had 22 markers and 9 boards, while Jeff Chan added 16 points and 3 rebounds as it closed the game out on a 12-4 run.
