WBA Campion Petalcorin  beats Garde, wants to capture IBF World belt


After scoring light flyweight belt at Pan Pacific last Sunday against Arnold Garde, Randy Razor Petalcorin the EX-Interim World Boxing Association (WBA) light flyweight champion is now set to capture IBF World Belt.

Cementing a unanimous win over Arnold Garde in the main event of “Brawl in the Mall: Return of the Gensan’s Finest” held at Robinson’s Mall Atrium in General Santos City, where all three judges favoured for Petalcorin, Romy Fordaliza (97-91), Sabas Ponpon Jr. (100-88) and Brembot Duladas (98-90).

The 24-year-old champion, Petalcorin’s rank in the IBF rated No. 13, need to improve after he won the retinal title.

Petalcorin’s manager, Sanman Promotions CEO Jim Claude Manangquil said –

“Randy wants the IBF world title next year. We are targeting that,” The next plan is for Randy to take a break for Xmas and relaxe then start training again at Sandman Jim Manangquil will be getting Randy ready for any big fight available soon.

At present, Akira Yaegashi owns IBF light flyweight title, where as ALA Gym’s Milan Melindo is the IBF champion of interim level.

Petalcorin moved to 25-2-1 by scoring 18 knockouts, while Garde’s scoring dropped to 9-4-2 three knockouts.

Both Yaegashi and Melindo will trade leathers next year to settle on regular IBF light Flyweight Champion. While, Eden Sonsona 35-6-2, 12 Kos is out for 18-months with a majority decision over battle-worn expert Jaime Barcelona 39-61-1, 10 KOs

Two judges scored it 77-75 and 77-74 for Sonsona, while the other judge saw it as a 75-75 draw.
