Austria sure of Cabagnot’s return to clash

San Miguel guard Alex Cabagnot smashed 20 points against Meralco before leaving the game due to fractured nose on 28th December. The injured nose might allow Cabagnot to miss out on Beermen’s next clash with Blackwater Elite on Friday, on 6th January 2017.

Coach Leo Austria is however sure of Cabagnot return to the field despite has broken nose in the showdown with Blackwater and Ginebra on 8th January.

Austria said –

“Knowing Alex, he would want to play in those games,”

“In fact, Alex wants a faceguard, and he will be fitted with one on Wednesday.”

San Miguel is one of the top teams of the league 5-1 and not willing to compromise on the top two to place to gain a easy job in the quarterfinal round.

Cabagnot was taken to San Juan de Dios Hospital in Pasay City after receiving end of an inadvertent elbow from Cliff Hodge in the 3rd quarter of their game against Meralco. Cabagnot still managed to notch 20 points, which was second to Marcio Lassiter’s 21 in San Miguel’s 101-86 victory.

Cabagnot said – his nose is “a little bit fractured,” and he would return to play with a protective mask during the game with Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings.

“We’re just waiting for the swelling to go down. I’m taking all the medicine in the world, and before Friday, I hope I could get my mask fitted,” he said.
