Kings meet Elite in a key match

 

The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings has shown sign of getting back to the lethal form, however facing Blackwater Elite would be a tough challenge when they meet for a key playoff match today at 7 P.M in the PBA Philippines Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome in the Pasay City.

The San Miguel Kings are at 4-4 win-loss record, while Elite at 5-4 will try to play a better match to hold their quarterfinal spot and if possible, finish the season on a favorable place at the end of the elimination round.

Last Saturday at Iloilo city, Kings smashed out Meralco Bolts, 83-72 and got tied for the 7th to 9th place with Alaska and Star Gin Kings. Meanwhile, the Elite are tied up with TNT KaTropa and Phoenix in the 4th place, which is just two wins away from matching their total win in the last season.

Joe Devance (19 points), LA Tenorio (18 points) and Japeth Aguilar (17 points) performed massive against Bolts that also saw Scottie Thompson played brilliantly all-around game.

Tim Cone in a statement said –

“We have high expectations because we recently had our championship. When the teams beat us, the players are getting upset. The frustration kicks in. For us, we must move forward,”

“If we can turn the tables and win our remaining games [three], the playoffs is possible for us. I still feel that we are championship contenders,” he added

Kings will have to face a tough challenge coming from the young Rookie star Mac Belo, who added biggest difference in Elite’s rise in 3rd year in the league standings.
