Tiongson explodes for 32 points, helps AMA outlasts Cignal-San Beda

 

Juami Tiongson waxed hot for 32 points as AMA Online Education moves ahead for 2nd straight win surpassing Cignal-San Beda, 94-85 on Tuesday 24th January in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The 25-year-old point guard played best in the final quarter, where he fired 12 markers for Titans. Tiongson went on a 10-of his 16 attempts from the field while also hitting 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

Coach Mark Herrera and team that entered Philippine Basketball Association Developmental league (PBA D-League) with a hope of “effective” venture for them said –

“I talked to Juami before the game. We know how big Diego (Dario)’s loss is and I asked him that he has to make the most of his extra minutes,”

“I’m happy, but I’m not surprised because he’s one of our leaders.”

Jeron Teng added 16 markers and 15 boards, while PJ Barua marked 13. Genmar Bragais also offered hope as he was done with 10 points and 8 rebounds for AMA, which improved to 2-0 record.

The former Ateneo playmaker anchored a 21-6 score during 2nd half that bridge the deficit of 61-60 into an 81-67 advantage by the time 4th quarter ended.

Davon Potts added 18 points and 2 rebounds for the Hawkeyes, while Mark Bringas had 14 markers. Jason Perkins also notched 13 points and 10 boards added to the loss.
