Blackwater beats Batang Pier to secure a playoff berth

The Blackwater Elite defeated the Batang Pier Globalport, 118-107, to secure thelast quarterfinals slot in the PBA Governors’ Cup Sunday at Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.

Allein Maliksi posted 22 points while Roi Sumang added 21 points to help Blackwater in the scoring category. Both Maliksi and Sumang scattered their points to strengthen their chances of staying in the course for the playoffs.

Moreover, Henry Walker had 19 points, 12 rebounds, nine asssits, five steals and five blocks in an all-around performance for BlackWater. Walkers’ presence provided the continuing factor for Blackwater to even post a 21-point advantage, 90-69, with 3:07 left in the third quarter.

Meanwhile, Murphy Holloway had 28 points and a whopping 23 rebounds in a losing cause for Batang Pier, who dropped in 3-7 record. Also, Stanley Pringle added 27 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Terrance Romeo finished with 13 points in just 14 minutes of play after being ejected from the game for throwin the ball at Walker, Blackwater’s import.

Mike Digregorio scored 16 points while Poy Erram contributed 11 points for Blackwater. Dave Marcelo also was in double figures with 13 points.
