San Miguel beats Ginebra in PBA Governors Cup

San Miguel delivered a107-103 victory over Barangay Ginebra through the sterling debut performance of Terrence Watson in the PBA Governors’ Cup Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Watson posted 28 points, 17 rebounds, four assists and two blocks to lead the Beermen in ending the seven-game winning streak of Barangay Ginebra. In just his first game, Watson’s chemistry with the local players clicked immediately through his all-around game.

To compliment the game of Watson, Arwind Santos had 23 points and three 3-pointers coming from the bench. Santos displayed his shooting prowess that the defense couldn’t stop. Moreover, Chris Ross also contributed in an all around game with 20 poitns, five, assists, four rebounds and four steals. Ross also was responsible in containing Ginebra’s Justin Brownlee who finished with only 14 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists.

San Miguel’s Alex Cabagnot mad the crucial jumper with 54 seconds left in the game. Cabagnot had 16 points and five assists to be part of the double figures in scoring for the Beermen. Bigman June Mar Fajardo had 10 points and 15 rebounds to help his team.

On the other hand, Japeth Aguilar led Ginebra with 18 points and seven rebounds while fellow bigman Greg Slaughter added 16 points and seven reounds. LA Tenorio posted 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists in a losing cause.

Ginebra dropped to 7-2 while San Miguel climbed to 5-3 in the standings.
