Vuelta a Espana Stage 14: overall standings and results, Chris Froome looks to increase lead

Overall leader Chris Froome and Team Sky will be tested in today’s Stage 14 of Vuelta a Espana as the riders will have a high category climb to hurdle. Stage 14 is a mountaintop finish, and it can make or break Froome.

With a total of 3,405 of climing and three total categorized climb, all the contenders are looking to create a distance against each other. The first climb is about 8.8km with 3.8 percent gradient that will come at 76.7km into the stage. Though there will be breakaways at this juncture, Froome will utilize his team with wisdom to prepare for the final ascent. Thereps also the Category 2 which is 8.5km and 4.9 percent gradient.

As the cyclists journey these two category climbs, the ascent to Sierra de La Pandera will be the determining part of the race as they will pedal a 12km long with 8.0 percent gradient on theway to the finish. However, the riders will descend quickly then there’s the 18% gradient ramp on the way to the finish.

Team Sky will have Mikel Nieve to stay with Froome as long as he could just to keep the lead in the overall standings. Currently, Froome has a 59 seconds advantage against Vincenzo Nibali. Froome can eight increase or decrease the lead if Nibali will have a great day. Johan Chaves will also need to attack especially in the final ascent.
