Game 5 Update

In a do-or-die battle, the Cubs and the Nationals are playing with everything at stake in the NLDS Game 5. The Cubs are leading 1-0 after the first inning.

Game 4

Strasburg was in total domination with a shutout performance as the Nationals lead 5-0 over the Cubs in the top of the 8th inning.

The Washington Nationals will meet the Chicago Cubs in Game 4 of the NLDS on Wednesday, start time at 4:00 PM ET, at Wrigley Field, Chicago, Illinois.

After Game 4 was postponed, Nationals manager Dusty Baker elected to start ace pitcher Stephen Strasburg, who started Game 1 having the regular rest. Baker knows that this is the opportunity for his team to tie the series through his best pitcher. The move could alter the course of the game as Baker will utilize his most dominant pitcher who finished 5-0 in his last six regular season starts with a .650 ERA and striking out 48 batters. Surely, if the Nationals will win, Game 5 will be played at their homefield.

On the other hand, Jake Arrieta will be the starter for the Cubs. Arrieta has been nursing a hamstring injury but he is ready to take the mound. With all the pressures on his shoulder to win, Arrieta understands the implication of this game. This could be Arrieta’s final game with the Cubs should the team fail to go deeper in the playoffs. The right-hander had a 1-2 record and 5.48 ERA in nine starts against the Nationals. Arrieta has posted 4-2 with a 3.64 ERA in seven postseason starts in his career. If the Cubs will win this game, they will face the Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.
